Strongly Typed Datasets

by Sander Gerz August 27, 2003 22:09

I'll be writing an article on strongly typed dataset for .NET Magazine. For those who don't know this magazine, that's quite understandable. Microsoft Netherlands publishes this magazine that started out as a one-time intro into .NET development, but turned into a publication that has almost half the readers of MSDN magazine. It doesn't come out every month, in fact, the article is for the 4th one.

Most of you, and the readers of the magazine will have no problem creating a typed dataset. And if not, it's easy to find samplecode on the web. Besides, the xsd.exe tool does most of the work (or VS takes care of it). Not so much to talk about right? So, to make it a bit more interesting my angle will be on the theory behind this type of dataset, when not to use a typed dataset, more advanced features etc. If you have any suggestions, things that are interesting to know, I'm open to anything.

The article will be in Dutch, but I'll try to post my progress here, so there'll be some interesting stuff to read in my weblog as well (at least I hope...).
